The city’s Gather COLA food hall in the BullStreet District will soon see a charming new addition.

The Traveling Penny, a charm jewelry bar based in Greenville, announced it will open another location at the food hall this spring. It will offer a full charm bar and personalized jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces and earrings, according to the business’ Instagram announcement.

Visitors of the new shop will be able to create one-of-a-kind pieces from a selection of chains and dainty gold-plated and pearl charms ranging from $6 to $12, as showcased on the business’ website.

The business has an existing location in the heart of downtown Greenville as well as a mini truck mobile charm bar that stops at markets and events, its Instagram page says. It also offers online jewelry orders and private events, according to its website.

Gather COLA opened in December 2025 with a host of outdoor dining options, three retail spaces and two bars. The Traveling Penny will replace The Avenue Events’ flower pop-up shop, one of the hall’s initial retail spaces, a Gather COLA representative said. The jewelry spot will join the pre-existing Ageless vintage shop and Crumbl cookies storefront.

In addition to The Traveling Penny, the hall welcomed owned workspace operator SOCO with 9,500 square feet of office space on Feb. 26.

The historic BullStreet District has seen rapid growth in recent months, making it a now vibrant mixed-use center of the city. Greenville’s Methodical Coffee opened right next to Gather in October, the two anticipated businesses balancing out the September loss of Iron Hill Brewery (set to soon be replaced by another chain brewpub in Three Notch’d).

Columbia City Council gave final approval to increase the maximum height limit for new buildings in large parts of the BullStreet District late last year. And developers are moving forward on a seven-story hotel after securing final approval for tax breaks from Richland County.

Future developments in the district will join the Segra Park baseball stadium and recent upscale additions, including a fitness studio, the southern brunch restaurant Tupelo Honey and five residential projects.
